the Artist's Statement
Watercolor is the wondrous medium that allows me to paint not what
I see, but what I feel.  It's transparent property lends itself to capturing the most beautiful aspect of nature...the interplay of light on subjects
of beauty both natural and man made.

I am drawn to Old Florida architecture surrounded by lush tropical settings.  I love the harbors, ships and dinghys of New England.  I find reflected images on bodies of water in all shapes and sizes to be mesmerizing.

My ability to draw was recognized early on and fostered during my childhood., but life's demands put any artistic desires on the back burner for many years.  It wasn't until my late forties that I again became serious about art.  At the urging of my wife and friends, I
began to draw in pen and ink, and then moveing on to watercolor.

I have recently combined my passions for art and music.  I enjoy embellishing new Les Paul guitars with multi-media designs, some collage and some hand-guilded with simulated gold and silver foil.

I am self-taught as all artists are, for we do not becone astists by completing a series of lessons, but by practice and perseverance and discovery over many years.  I thank those I have studied with:Frank Webb, Don Andrews, Joan Klutch, Marjorie Bronsted, and all of my
many artistic friends who have shared their insight and knowledge.
