I painted this lionfish directly on naturally shed heritage turkey feathers. I used one of my old boating charts as a mat for this piece. I collected the shells and sea whips myself from Sanibel beaches. I incorporated real African porcupine quills to represent the lion fish’s spines. The frame is made out of old lobster traps, by a friend of mine in the Florida Keys. The piece measures 18x27” and is framed with Truview Museum glass.
