If you're spending a summer day on Sanibel, here's how to soak up nature, sunshine, and art all in one easy route:
Start your day at J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Drive, bike, or walk the Wildlife Drive for a close-up look at mangroves, birds, and maybe a gator or two. Bring your camera and take it slow.
Next, head to Tarpon Bay Beach. It’s one of Sanibel’s quieter beaches, perfect for shelling, swimming, or just soaking up the Gulf breeze.
Then stop for lunch at the Over Easy Café. This local spot is known for hearty breakfasts and fresh lunches served on a shaded outdoor patio. The crab cake Benedict and blueberry pancakes are island favorites.
Finish the day at Tower Gallery, an artist-owned gallery tucked into a colorful historic cottage. Take your time browsing the wide variety of local art, including paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, and jewelry. Don’t miss the vibrant coastal work of Carole Nastars, one of the featured artists at the gallery.
It’s a perfect loop of nature, beach, great food, and art—all the reasons we love summer on Sanibel. Carole Nastars is one of the featured artists at the gallery.
