Marianne migrated south from the Green Mountain State of Vermont over 31 years ago.
She and her husband landed first in Punta Gorda where they had a sailing school. When they sold that business they moved to Sanibel.
Marianne and her husband raised their two sons Joe and Sam on Sanibel Island. They are very proud of them!
Marianne has a degree in horticulture and owned and operated a landscape company in Vermont. She is still involved in landscape design on Sanibel as an independent contractor.
As a child, Marianne always loved art and sketched and painted. She is inspired by nature, especially the local fish, shells and flowers.
Marianne first started painting bowls (acquired from a Bowl Mill) as a hobby and gave some to friends and donated some to worthy causes.
Her bowls come in 5 different sizes. The designs are all original, handprinted and finished with a food safe acrylic polyurethane. Click here to see more of Marianne's artwork.
Marianne was inspired to create White Line Wood Block prints by attending an exhibit and taking a class at the Provincetown Museum.
Her current project took 2 month to painstakingly carve. You can purchase her bowls and Wood Block prints at Tower Gallery with whom she has been affiliated for many years. Marianne is very busy during the season as she shares her love of horticulture at the School Garden in Naples where she teaches weekly after school classes.
Michelle Obama chose to visit this School Garden while in the area!
AND she has been taking piano lessons for the last 2 years! Bravo Marianne!
